Since January 2025, the world order known as the West has been in dissolution. Europe has become the Other to President Trump. The Atlantic has become a ditch that divides instead of an ocean that connects. However, the dissolution also has a more long-term dimension, visible in the decline of democracy, which, after 1945, became the pillar of the Western world order. Three articles by Bo Stråth and a guest article by Etienne Balibar explore the forces propelling the dissolution and reflect on what to do, outlining the world as it is and how it should be.
